An animal which was “more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made” (Genesis 3:1). According to the Book of Moses, Satan influenced the serpent’s actions (Moses 4:6). The serpent beguiled and tempted Eve into partaking of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 3:6). God subsequently cursed the serpent (Genesis 3:14–15).
